hey medicine woman!
Yeh, its such a relief to have interviews out of the way - but I do find the wait absolutely horrendous. They can make offers before March, I known that many school leavers have had offers and a couple of graduates. However, the majority are made in March, which I suppose is not too long from now! My interview was on the other hand so short maybe i didnt talk enough! And yeh, I totally agree - they are all so lovely and completely put you at ease! Now all we need to do is wait
! Is Aberdeen your first choice?

ok, well aparently my worries weren't without resons as my UCAS status has been updated, and I have been rejected.
It was a bit cruel, I logged in the Applicportal first and it still said my application would be considered, then I logged into UCAS Track where I read that my application has been unsucessful...

Aww I'm sorry to hear that .. I felt winded the first time I saw an unsuccessful.. I'm not sure if you have other applications in but it'll work out one way or another for you I'm sure. You could contact the uni to see where they would have liked you to excel more and work on that for next years application if needed.. that's my plan if I don't get in

Good luck either way

I felt that my interview was quite rushed....they didn't let me finish on any of the questions. They kept cutting me off and they didn't look very interested in what I was saying.
Did anyone else experience that???
I am kinda worried!!

MW - Here u go: student portal - thouth u probably wanted to ask about link to the applicant portal

00febiva - I think it depends - might be because an interview before you dragged on a bit, might be because they covered all the points they were interested in, etc.
As far as 'fairness' of time allocation is concerned, they have to be prepared to deal with hyper-talkative applicants, as everyone should fit within a certain time slot. If they think you answered their question, they'll cut it short and move on to the next one.. Sure, every applicant prepared a kind of script to impress the interviewers, but I'm afraid it's just futile effort on our part. The interviewers have few pre-set points to talk about and clarify with each of you, and therein lie all the 'points' you can possibly 'score' from an interview. A 10 minute monologue about your devotion to helping others and fascination with medical science is NOT going to get you an 'edge' over everybody else.
To sum up - in a strong applicant, 5 minute may be more than enough to cover all the points the admissions staff are interested in - but they might choose to extend it a bit just because someone is a really interesting person. In someone who barely makes it, they might have to dig deeper... however, this does NOT mean that the longer your interview, the smaller your chances of getting in. It varies from applicant to applicant, from one interviewer to another - and we will never *really* know why person X got in and (quite similar) person Y did not get an offer.
(Yeah, I know it's a cr*p explanation, but that's the point - in the end, it's up to them to decide, we can give it our best shot and hope it'll be enough - and no amount of complaining or what-if-ing is going to improve one's chances)Aberdeen Uni - MBChB year 4
