Any graduates apply for Aberdeen?
Hello!
Having just sent my application I reckon it's time to start riding the wave!
I'm 24 and got a 2:1 in Philosophy and Religious Studies, then when I decided on medicine I got a distinction on the Science Foundation Programme Durham University run. The idea was to get all distinctions to then be able to go onto the 5 year medicine course, however, it was not to be, as I got all distinctions in every assignment, exam, formative stuff and then I went down on one paper and couldn't carry on to medicine, but still armed with a distinction. So, here I am a year and a fair few phlebotomy and HCA shifts later hoping, waiting and excited!
I didn't get an interview last year, but still meet the minimum requirements so fingers crossed for this year!
Any other grads going for gold?

Oooo it seems real now! Nice to know there are others out there!
I'm great thanks, how are you? Well done on getting it in! Massive relief isn't it! Your degree sounds tres cool! And yes I'm also applying to UEA, HYMS and Leicester 5 year, dead excited! Don't know why as I didn't have much joy last year...but I'm hoping this time around might be something to look foward to!
Was just writing in the mature thread that I really should write my choices in my signature like everyone else, but if it's anything like last year I can't take the painful nail in the coffin everytime I have to write 'unsuccessful'!! But hey, I might exorcise some demons and do it and get in the spirit!
Aberdeen were my last 'unsuccessful' last year, in April, so I'm hoping that it won't be like that again.
I send us both a bit chunk of luck! Is this your first application? Did you have to wrestle with your choices? I had to sumo wrestle mine
Fingers crossed for you and us!

Hey
@ Racster.
Yeah I am great thanks. Feeling so relieved that my form is in and all I can do now is wait. Got an e-mail from Edinburgh today so I know my form got there okay. I assume the same is for Aberdeen! My choices weren't that bad to make. I always knew I wanted to apply to Glasgow and Edinburgh and reading about Aberdeen the course sounded fantastic so that was a gimme. I was originally going to apply to Newcastle but decided on St Andrews instead. Oh it's going to be a long wait! I am sure that this year will be better for you....well let's sure hope so
@ David
First off, Hey. How's Oz?
I would imagine Aberdeen, like most universities, will interview between November and March. I am sure you will get notice though and if needs be you can change it. You can also put on your UCAS form days you are unavailable for interview?
Good luck with your appGetting into Medical School is on my to do list. Done

Oz is great, having a great time. I thought id have one big blow-out, incase i get accepted and never have a life again!! Will be leaving here in dec and heading to south america for 6 weeks travelling so cant wait for that.
There is a section to put in when u are unavailable to attend but theres 2 reasons i dont want to. The first is that it is in ther referee's section and the information icon beside the box says dates where applicant is not available for interview as advised by the referee. Well my referee is a lecturer from UNi that i finished 3 years ago so i don think that is applicable. Also i dont want to put the universites off inviting me for an interview if my dates dont suit their plans, so i think ill leave it blank and hope for the best!!

I'm a Glasgow uni grad as well! I've got Aberdeen down as one of my choices. It's got a really good reputation for taking on mature/grad students.
If everything goes well, the game plan this year is to get my interviews done then hopefully do a bit of backpacking round SE Asia before going back to uni!
It's really sad, but I've been amazed how much I miss studying. On the other-side of uni it's quite unbelievable how little call there can be to use your brain. Can't wait to get back for a challenge!

Look what you have started Racster ha.
It's great to see some fellow Glasgow Grads applying. Doesnotequal Hey, what was your degree in? Asia, awesome...and you say you miss studying now but wait until you are up til 3 in the morning revising! I kind of understand what you mean though. Good luck applying, where else have you applied to?
Searabia. Hello and first of all, how much of a relief is it to get UCAS done? I will most likely see your name bouncing around these forums as you have applied to three of the uni's I have. I have applied to Glasgow instead of Dundee. Though I suppose after having studied two degrees already at Glasgow, a third would drive anyone insane. I also know the pleasure of studying chemistry this year as I never did it at school, oh the hoops we jump through to get into Uni.
Good luck guysLast edited by doctors-do-it-better; 15-10-2009 at 02:22 AM.

@ docs I know! Us graduates are like Smith's in the Matrix, just keep popping up. It's great to know, last year I applied solo and that was rubbish, it's nice to have a look at how everyone else is coping with this fiendish process! I think you chose right with St Andrews, don't they have the option of doing the last 3 years in Manchester? How cool would that be? And the hoops jumped have been intense, I think that's why I'm really excited about this year, as even if it doesn't pan out, it's good that all this hard work finally that we've been building for is being used for something! Hopefully the optimism will get us through the quiet October!
@David1104 Hope you're having fun in Australia - a good idea to have a blow out before getting in, I think if by a miracle I got in somewhere it would affect how I spend the months before starting, although to be honest I'll just be trying to cram in the hours to get some dough! I'm applying to UEA too, I really really like the course and how they have a mixed bag of students, they really impressed me when I went to look around, I wish you lot's of luck.
15th tomorrow.... hopefully our forms will be sitting on an assessors desk destined for the interview pile!
