How to get to Foresterhill!
Hi, im staying at Hillhead Halls (New Carnegie Court), and ive got this freshers film thing at 9.30 tomorrow- and i'm just wondering how to actually get to the Suttie centre!
Ive asked at The Hub at the Uni and the woman told me to take the number 20 bus from Hillhead, and then take the number 14 to Foresterhill, but i am unsure of times, fares and what to actually say to the bus driver haha i.e what stops- especially for coming back! (I've never really had to take a bus before).
Also wondering how early i should leave in the morning?
Any help would be greatly appreciated- i haven't met any med students at Hillhead yet...
Sorry if this thread has already been done by the way, and ive just been blind and not seen it.

If you intend getting the bus back to Hillhead ask for a "student day ticket", it'll work out cheaper. You might need a matriculation card to get a student ticket, so you're stuffed if you only get them this week. An adult day ticket is £3 flipping 90p
Get the 08:15 hours No. 20 or walk to St Machar Drive (next No 20 is 08:45hours and with possible roadworks you'll run late). There is a roundabout with a bank on one corner, a baker on the adjacent corner the uni on another corner and Spar or Co-op on the other.
Get onto St Machar Drive westbound (the road going east which you may see the sea if you look down is Seaton Drive or Road it's not that one). It's the road between the Uni and the Spar. It is probably signposted as an A route road to Dundee, Braemar, Westhill.
Get the 08:38hrs No 14 ask for Foresterhill. I'm not sure if it stops at the big car park/blood centre end or the matty end (small cul-de sac / bus turning area). Either way follow the path which goes parallel to the longitudinal axis of the hospital and look for the new looking timberclad building which is, as I prefer to call it Matthew Hay.
The 14 is only every half hour and passes St Machar Drive just as the 20 leaves Hillhead so there is quite a wait.
I think a lot of students will end up walking because the combination of the 2 buses is could mean a cumulative waiting time of up to one hour, more than enough time to walk it. It's a 0.5 hr walk time.
FirstGroup - Route 20 Hillhead-Marischal
FirstGroup - Route 14 Kingswells-Seaton-Foresterhill
I'm not really sure why the number 20 still goes to Marischal as the Uni no longer uses Marischal College and the Union is no longer there. It was mostly students who used the route so maybe First should look into re-routing it to link up some of the campuses and still keep it going to Marischal so they can get into town at nights. Sorry to intrude without actually contributing, but it most definitely ISN'T 30 minute walk from Hilly to ARI, unless u're 10 feet tall. I'd say it's closer to 45mins, 1 hr if u're a slow walker (and it is uphill 2/3 of the way -> "foresterHILL")
then again, by this time most of you worked out the distance by themselves or were forced to walk anyways..Aberdeen Uni - MBChB year 4

I'm sorry if anyone was late due to me saying it was 0.5 hour instead of 0.75 to 1 hour.
Sorry, that's about half an hour from St Machar Drive to the medical school. I'm 1.83 and brisk walker, so adjust time for the size of your leggies and preferred walking pace and add on the bit to hillhead.
It is a bit of a hill. I'd sack walking it everyday and get a bicycle, hi-viz and hat, especially with all those heavy tomes to shlep around.
Not sure anyone was online after 01:15 to get the post anyway, so hopefully no one was late because of what I posted.Signatures are for losers!
