yea i think the ice ring is still closed? u hav wed afternoons and alot of medics do sport ie hockey, canoeing, surfing. things like football are sometimes on sat mornings too. only thing id say is not to do more than one or two sports because they seem to take up alot of time. the new gym should be awesome tho

Thanks guys for your replies...
Elz...any idea how much the gym membership would be? Oh, and is it located on the main campus or the medical one? I think if I had to choose one activity, I would be very torn between hockey and a martial art.

well i do/will do pay as u go gym membership which at the old gym was like £1.50 or sumthing stupid for an hour session. but when the new gym opens this august i guess it may be a bit more. i think for a years membership it was about £100 for the yr?? but dunno, i prefer pay as u go. its located by the main uni campus not the medschool.

A year's membership for a hundred quid is absolutely fabulous! I have a student membership with my local gym and its about £275. But I suppose I go quite regularly so it works out fantastic

Are the med students on the main campus AT ALL? Or is it all based at Foresterhill?

For all those interested:
Student membership at Aberdeen Sports Village
1st years will have majority of their lectures and anatomy being taught on forresterhill site, but they might make you go to main campus every so often for a tutorial etc.

It is a good idea to try out a month membership to see how much you use the gym and if it fits around studies. The yearly membership does decrease in price as the months go on. From what I remember a year is £72 but as elz said this place is new and being shared with the county council so may be higher.
Also if you live at hillhead it is a bit of a way to walk but is a good warm up exercise. Luckily I will be living just down the road from the new place so it's the year membership for me.2nd Year Aberdeen Medic

That sure does sound like a plan natamac! Im going to be living about 10mins away from Foresterhill, kinda in between main campus and medical campus, geographically....not toooooo bad.
prolly a years membership for me... i like to make time for some form of physical activity, otherwise i think the pressures of education and life otherwise would be the death of me! Thanks guys for the info, once again!

That seems like a really good place to live, not too far from anything.
Membership is always good. Gives you more motivation from the wanting to get your moneys worth out of everything.2nd Year Aberdeen Medic
