Feedback about waiting list for 2009

Hi All

I am a graduate applicant and at the moment Aberdeen is my last hope for 2009 entry, I am approximately half way down the waiting list.
Does anyone know the chances of getting in, i.e. in relation to previous years. My hope is dwindling as I am beginning to think its highly unlikely they will make another say 70 offers this August!!!!!!!!!! I was told they will work down the list if places becomes available in August. There are 137 applicants on waiting list list this year!

Anyone else out there know their position on the waiting list?

I have also been told I am on the waiting list but I don't know how far down I am - how did you find out? I haven't heard anything from them since I was told I was on the reserve list.

I emailed Medical Admissions/Dr Greaves to find out where I am. Is Aberdeen your only hope for Medicine this year?

Aberdeen is my last hope this year, I've gotten used to the idea of a gap year and re-applying now though so anything that comes from this would just be a massive bonus. Good luck!

I emailed the admissions department and they said they were unable to give me any information until the 20th August (A Level results day). I am in two minds as to whether I should email them again to ask for my position on the waiting list! Lol.

I rang on the 20th August and E-mailed, had 2 e-mails back.. both saying the same thing along the lines of "we are not able to make any more offers at present but will be reviewing the situation weekly and you will be notified of your status in the next few weeks." ... I don't hold much hope really!

The other problem is that the deadline for accommodation is tomorrow (although all the accommodation is full now anyway it seems) so you will have to find private accommodation, although the uni should help you out if that happens

I emailed Aberdeen on the 6th August detailing my exam results (Adv H Bio: A, Adv H Chem: A, Int 2 Admin: A)...(My higher results were: English:B, Bio:A, Chem:A, Maths:A, Mod St:A, .)
I got an email back saying no vacanices.
As the rest of the unis I applied to said.(glasgow, dundee, edinburgh,)

(Just so you know I was rejected from all four of my uni choices without interview)

So I emailed all uk med schools, none of them had any vacancies as expected.

I then emailed my four scottish unis on the 12th as I had found out that the unis hold waiting lists, and said if any vacancies came up when A level results were published I would be happy if they could consider me.
Heard nothing.
On the 19th Aberdeen emailed me asking me to come for an interview on the 25th.
Interview - An hour long grilling with senior admissions officer and Dr Kath Greaves.
And by fri 28th they offered me a place in medicine.
I knew it was a miracle!.. but after seeing this thread it seems as if their was a big waiting list.. even more of a miracle!
