I'm starting in Sept - getting nervous strangely.
Does anyone have an idea of how much cash we should have to hand for books etc?

Also - A few months ago I had an image of having to hire a removal van and transport my bed-room to Aberdeen - I take it however that this would be rather OTT - but, does anyone have an idea of the essentials that we should bring?
(Particuarly since I'm from Edinburgh and won't be able to pop home every the urge arises!)

    Gracias

Book ends, the 2nd hand bookshop in The Hub has some of **last years** 1st year titles if you must buy them. I wouldn;t recommend you get them before. Play it by ear for a few weeks, see how much you hactually use them, the texts will be in the library and as there won't be exams for a while they'll be available to take out. The heavy demand has umpteen copies of every recommended text.

Medical texts are in the region of 30-50 new.

The recommended titles are not announced for 09 entry anyway and the bookshops generally don't have the booklists until around term start.

I always think the best part of moving home (I've lived in 10 cities) is living out a case for the first few weeks - no clutter.

You and me are different - if I'm not prepared for all eventualities in life my heart would stop beating!

It is particularly when I'm the wrong side of Aberdeen, which itself is the wrong side of London.
I don't think I've seen police helicopters and a dozen armed response vehicles on my travels in Aberdeen.

Anyone any idea when we'll get information about freshers and the timetable? When does freshers officially start?

The fresher's week usually begins towards the end of September, I think 21st-ish (but it may be slightly different this year)

'Freshers' Week coincides with the start of term (Tue,22nd) and during this week, in addition to meeting your adviser and finalising your timetable, you will have the opportunity to participate in Freshers' week activities etc'

That was an excerpt from a letter connnected to the letter of acceptance
