I just got my fourth rejection  from aberdeen. I actually thought the interview had went really well so its a bit of a shock to say the least and I had my interview so long ago (november) that I actually thought I stood a good chance.
Anyhow just wondering if anyone knew of any appeals processes or had been successful in overturning a decision? I am going to apply again but obviously want to try and get in this year if I can first.
Firstly sorry about your bad news, and although it does make things inconvenient this year don't lose sight of becoming a doctor if appeals and things don't work out this year.
I couldn't find any information about the appeals process at Aberdeen but I would suggest prior to appealing emailing them and asking if they could give any feedback about why your application was unsuccessful and what you could potentially do to improve your chances if you were to reapply.
There may have been a small point that raised questions in your application and as medicine is so competive this could be enough to make your application unsuccessful and this could be a point easily fixed for next years application. As I think everyone who meets academic criteria is interviewed at Aberdeen it could have been an area or your personal statement or reference perhaps.
Most univeristies require grounds to appeal, such as you feel you were discriminated against for some reason such as age, sex, race etc.. and won't normally consider appeals just because you think you should have got a place. However the best people to speak to would be the student recruitment and admissions office at Aberdeen sras@abdn.ac.uk and of course check for any info at www.abdn.ac.uk/medicine/prospective-students.
Thanks guys!
@FairytaleGirl - A doctor I know got married before she qualified and took on her husband'd surname. They then divorced a few years after the qualified but she is still known by her...
I'm worried about putting all my eggs in one basket. It's funny because that's what I've been doing for years!
As for how many people still hanging on by their fingernails, I've lost count!
