Lol. Sounds cool. All GEPs are tough to be honest but I guess they're worth the gamble - having to only pay for one year and no school kids n all that!

I studied in Trinity College Dublin one of the few ancient uni's so Aberdeen is quite similar. I'm working this year as an Anatomy Demonstrator in Trinity and doing an MSc also. My degree is in Radiation Therapy. This is all quite exciting but its out of our control until the interviews (hopefully). Hope to see you all soon in Aberdeen.

Hey McMhuireasa, your degree sounds quite interesting. What kind of modules did you have to study?

It was quite interesting, my undergraduate degree that is. It was really varied with courses in anatomy, physiology and biochemistry in the initial years. we had physics throughout, basic, medical, radiation and nuclear physics as well as the humanities subjects like psychology and counselling. we got a lot of patient contact throughout the course which was excellent. while the course was varied and really interesting to study, the career prospect is a little narrow and doesn't allow much freedom to practice in many other areas. What did you guys study?

Hey Mark, no its not a rumour. But its dependent upon how much anatomy you have done in your previous degree and they can only determine that from your degree transcripts which you had to send them before the application deadline. Also you had to denote '2' under the point of entry for Aberdeen in the choices section of your application. I didn't bother in the end coz I thought I'd miss out on some crucial anatomy, clinical and social teaching in first year.

I hope you wanted to enjoy being a fresher again cos you won't get any of what I have highlighted You get 2 communications skills sessions which are a waste of time really. It's all the stuff you already know about what makes a good doctor ( non verbal communication wise etc ) except you get a doctor telling you it!

Their is no clinical teaching at all. Clinical skills start being taught in 2nd year. However if you haven't done physiology then you should do 1st year. I know the medical sciences grads from Aberdeen go directly into 2nd year but they have been taught it during the course of their degree.

Only thing they have missed really is Community Course. And they get sessions in fresher's week for them to catch up.
4th year @ Aberdeen..... although I will be doing a Bsc in September!

Nah the course has changed..they're planing to have clinical teaching right from 1st year starting in 09..i think it's because they're only going to do each system once, with both normal and abnormal function during the same block

I'm curious. Because I'm in the last year to be taught at Marischal (upcoming medics are missing out on some of the hilarious quotes scribbled on the anatomy lecture theatre's desks), that means we are the last year to be taught the 'old style' 1st year.

So, next year, will we have the 'old style' 2nd year, while the first years start the new course? Or will they start every year on the new course? I kinda hope they dont do the latter.
