Yeah BMA registration is free for fresher's provided you give them bank details for a direct debit. After that is £30 a year while you are a med student but you can cancel before they take the payment for second year obviously.
@ Ruridh.... I can understand infection control in a hospital... but in the DR I don't think the risk of infection for the specimens is too high given they have been in preserving balm for how many months. The lab coats are only so your clothes don't stink and also you don't get any fluids or anything over them. Oh and you also need to buy a box of examining gloves for DR. Can buy them for £5 from the Anatomy department though so don't need to worry about them.
Best of all you get a wee locker downstairs for your lab coat and gloves. It's like being at high school again

you have to buy the padlock though, can buy a set of two in poundland or whatever it is called... and they are quite beefy and won't break. If you are a proper student the pound shop will be your second home
