Going to Aberdeen?
I'm new to the forum, but was just wondering who was intending to go to Aberdeen as their first choice subject to receiving an offer and of course exam results?
Aberdeen is my first choice and I thought it could be useful to know a few other peeps before September, if i get the grades!!!!!!!!

Probably.
I've been rejected from two med schools and I dont think I'll be going to Glasgow.
Yeh It'd be great if others from here went. It would be our wee Aberdeen med school guide UK appreciation group!
You're faster than this. Don't think you are, know you are. Come on stop trying to hit me and hit me!

Greetings guys...
Yup...Aberdeen is my firm choice. Not going to QMUL though...maybe its because the cost of living is too high
Also, I heard that Aberdeen is a beautiful place and very condusive..Yep I hope I can meet the grades and make many new friends...hopefully before going there!
 One question, question which is haunting my life right now...Is it true that Aberdeen received half of the sunlight throughout the year compared to other places in the UK?

I promise you - Aberdeen will have plenty of sunshine. I live in Orkney which is at least another 150 miles further north and we get loads of sun in the summer! Not so much in winter though! Bit chilly too

it was 21° in aberdeen today! not too bad for may! i would say that in midsummer the sun probably gets up at 3 or 4 am and sets close to 10 pm. so at midsummer it doesn't even get completely dark! but of course in the middle of winter it doesn't rise until after 8 am and sets at about 3.30 pm!!!

I just thought I'd post letting you guys know about the weather here in Aberdeen lol.
Sorry, the reply is so late - but I thought it may be of use to hear from someone who lives here.
Aberdeen's weather is generally good but we do recieve seriously strong winds in the winter and snow is a major problem during this time. We tend not to get so much rain as places such as Glasgow but the wind can often make it seem colder than it technically is.
Our summers are on the whole quite good but they by no means compete with London and such-like on a regular basis.
Aberdeen is quite a pictoresque city and is noted for it's medium city atmosphere but small city feel. It's very true that you can't go into Aberdeen City Centre without meeting someone you know lol.
Retail wise - there are a fair selection of shops in the city centre with more seemingly on the way. We have four main shopping centres - The Trinity Centre, The St Nicholas Centre, The Bon Accord Centre (the biggest) and The Academy (The more exclusive of those four.) The retail aspect of Aberdeen is set to be dramatically increased with plans for the Bon Accord Centre and St Nicholas to be extended by a floor each which would add vastly to the shop numbers.
Night life in Aberdeen is quite good, there is certainly no shortage of venues for a city of our size. It's best to stay in the Belmont Area of the city where the more studenty clubs and pubs are, however, that's not to say that other places are not worth a look. There are unfortunately some more "dodgy" clubs and pubs in Aberdeen but it's not hard to identify them. Belmont Street is particularly safe though.
The beach esplande is becoming increasingly popular with Aberdonians as it grows. There are the carnivals, ice-skating, bowling, numerous restaurants, a leisure centre, golf course, driving range, Aberdeen's football stadium and large stores situated on the beach front which is a short 5-10 minute walk from the bottom of Union Street (Aberdeen's main street) The beach esplande as it is known is quite nice and improves everytime it grows which at present is rather frequently. The beach itself is popular with dog walkers and joggers but during particularly warm days is quite busy. In fact, it's quite unusual to get a parking space on the beach front at weekends or when Aberdeen FC are playing, as their stadium is right beside the golf course, adjacent to the beach.
Anything else you guys want to know then just post here or PM me.
Hope that all helped.
