still waiting? or thinking of doing a science degree and transferring? can ansa q's!
I am actually at abdn, 2nd yr science student. applied to do medicine, conditional offers to 4 unis, accepted abdn... 1 grade out... rejected..now doing science degree. anyway, applied to transfer this year into first yr med (current first yr overflowing) and still nothing. cant deal with the rejection twice!!
i no it is so pants when you get rejected, anyone wanna know anything about the medical rejects coure at abdn (biomedical science) i'm hear to answer any questions! i know its hard thinking of doing a degree first - but it is possible. and the debts dont have to be paid off til you are earning - so not all bad! plus so much of course in first two years same as medicine - academic side will be a breeze! do not despair!
also, anyone else still waiting?

Hey ds2107,
Are you in general science, because I saw something on the medical website about abdn lettin biomed students transfer? That might be just if you're applyin for second year entry though.
"Exemptions: Graduate applicants should note that no exemptions from any part of the programme or examinations are granted. In some instances exceptions are made for BSc Biomedical Science degree graduates and dental graduates who may, at the discretion of the Admissions Committee, be granted direct entry to Phase II of the programme"

man why are they ignoring us??
as for transfers from biomed - its virtually impossible. they say it is an option but it isnt! at the end of first year i applied to transfer with top grades and still refused - just too many ppl. this yr i am pretty much top of the class so they are taking a bit more notice and considering me- but for anyone, transfer or not, there is just so little chance of being accepted.
last year they had far too many people for medicine and its not just a case of being over flowing in classes, the government fine aberdeen uni and also won't pay the tuition fees if the university let far too many ppl in. so they are being overly cautious this year. so if you get in its a real achievement.
if you get a first class degree in biomed, you'll have pretty much done first yr medicine already, so they will prob let you in to 2nd year med. yay, thats 8 years for me instead of 9!
good luck guys! i hope we all hear soon.
