At the end of imp interview they ask you if you've got any questions,l whether u've got anything to say. If you've had a good interview it would be a bit sucky to have to declare that 3 years ago you burgled a house.. but if he had maybe things would have been different to him writing a letter AFTER he was given a conditional offer.
As for, 'you've got to think of the patients' i agree to an extent, but patients are hardly angels themselves. As doctors we'll treat lots of criminals, so what if theres a slight blight on our own backgrounds.
The message this gives out to other kids who've been told to not follow a life of crime isn't great, is it? Whats the point if, even if they try to turn their life around they won't be able to follow their dreams as they want? I suppose it acts as a deterrent to a few though.
That said, his offer was conditional so there shouldn't be some uproar about it, not like they let him in and then said actually we've changed our minds... Hasn't UCL accepted him or something?
