In my opinion, Imperial's press statement gave the impression that he failed the FtP interview because he didn't show any remorse for what he'd done - claiming he'd just been in the wrong place at the wrong time and had been hard done by.

The only thing I would criticise Imperial about is rejecting him VERY late in the day, if he did indeed inform them about this conviction early on as some sources say.
