You most definately 100% dont need a laptop for lectures.

In terms of portability, it only really becomes an issue when on away hospital placements - it can be useful to have ur own computer with u to save faffing around with hospital librarys to do work in the evenings.

However, if u are anything like me, you will find you laptop is on its last legs by then anyway. Personally, i would go for a desktop, they are much cheaper to insure in uni accomodation and dont break half way through essay writing.
