Imperial is one of the best medical schools. I would say that. but i am going to give you my reasons why.

When we started in 1st year we were given the best introduction. you are slowly eased into the work, and our encouraged to go out and have fun not only by the union but by the senior lecturers. This made it really easy to transition i think between alevel to the hard slog of medicine. i know my friends at other medical schools had problems at the begninning cos they had so much work and wanted to go out and found it hard.

the area that the university is set in really makes a difference. i know people dont really think about it when applying. but just think you have hyde park just behind the uni, royal albert hall across the road. Its just a really nice, quiet area. which is unlike any part of central london. i really do think it makes a difference. it at least gives you the chance in your 1st year when you have massive 2hr lunches to go out to the park or onto the lawn to chill out or go to the gym close by.

the libary. the place you think you will never go. at the momment its pretty poo becasue construction is going on so its a pain. but by the time the new year start i think it is suppose to be finished so normality will return. but it is a massive libary with all the books you will ever need and and huge area to work. its split into different levels and areas of group study and quiet study and computer areas and mixed. the libary feels like i new building and not like a wooden old dark room where you have to work. so i think that makes a difference towards the end of the year when you actually use it.

another thing that really happens at imperial that i know about is that fact everyone helps each other so much between years. for example for 1st years there are tutorials set up outside of your lectures by groups who want to teach. all those things you never understood would be explained to you so well. and its interactive so if your ever unsure you are encouraged to ask questions. this continues throughout. i have just finished 3rd year and we had mentors teaching us throughout the year. this is really useful that you can just ask anyone sitting around you in the lib or go to these tutorials whenever you feel you are struggling.

i am sure you will see all this when you get a chance to go the open day.

i hope this has helped and not just been info you already had
