lol, I know exactly what you mean Singh, even my mum used to half-heartedly joke with me about it. However last year I knew an English caucasian girl whose lonely single parent mum really wanted to move in with her! She didn't in the end but it shows its not necessarily race specific!
And for my two cents
aspiration, i don't think its a good idea for your mum to accompany you to uni stuff for all the reasons stated above. I do think however that it is a somewhat separate issue (esp. if things get too difficult) to you and your mum completely relocating house to somewhere near your uni though.
