You're probably worried about hurting your mum's feelings but she has to let go sometime and going to college is a pretty good time to start...

I couldn't wait to move out when I was eighteen. Independence rocks! (apart from the bills)

If your mum wants to study suggest a course with the Open University. Tis what mine did (nurses didn't do degrees back in her day) and now she's a study addict.

If it's just the experience she wants, well honestly it seems a little selfish to impose on your own. Course she's your ma so you want to be diplomatic (and respectful, if I told my mum to 'get real' I'd get a justified box on the ear from my dad)...but firm.
