Nobody can accurately predict how things will end up. At the moment things are particularly bad, but some way or another a new equilibrium will be reached. The publication of the Tooke report hints that perhaps we will see a return to a system very similar to 3 years ago.
In the long run either a) things will be ironed out and the NHS will return to effective-ish working or b) things will have been so buggered that the NHS will implode and private healthcare will emerge.
I would venture that Tony and/or Gordon would much prefer option B as it would mean they no longer have to pay for the NHS and could therefore build a whole platoon of trident nuclear subs to make britain, once again the global superpower- aka Mother Britain.
