I don't know if it's the same process, but I do know that the bond for government service is longer, i.e. 6 years rather than 5.
I turned NUS down because I wanted an overseas university education, and plus I was fortunate enough to be sponsored for it!
From what I remember, he was asked simple questions like "what was the latest book you read" in the interview with the med students and allied healthcare professionals. The essay topic was about a problem you faced in your life and how you handled it.
