UK Patients will be able to opt-out of Electronic Health Records

The BBC is reporting that the government has agreed to give patients a veto on whether their records will be shared.

Previously the government were only offering the options to patients who would have experienced ’significant mental distress’ by their records being online. Now anyone will have the option to opt-out.

    I’d have liked for the political brakes to have been released on the technology. I feel there is too much media drive behind this, and not enough communication with the consumer. Personally, I want MY records now. I want my clinicians to have them. They are not my GP’s. My GP doesn’t represent me- as the press seems to think they do.
