New PDA - i-Mate K-Jam

Friday, September 1st, 2006

It’s a “New Gadget Day” today. Just bought an i-Mate K-Jam as a replacement for my C500 which seems to have died from sticking-key syndome. The home key on the C500 has been sticking for some-time but now the top left soft-key has stuck as well meaning I can’t unlock the keyboard.

i-Mate K-Jam

I chose the K-Jam because I wanted a smallish sized phone with full PDA features and a built-in keyboard. I’m not bothered about 3G anymore as I only get 3G reception when I’m in the center of town and the GPRS network here seems to be a lot quicker than in the UK (less users online at a time I presume).

Overall I’m very impressed with the K-Jam. I like the smaller form-factor compared to my M5000 (too big to use as a phone I think) but has a big enough keyboard not to induce thumb spasms.

The Mirth Project has just launched a very nice new website at www.mirthproject.org in tandem with releasing Mirth version 1.1. The new site has message boards, a wiki and a bug tracker as well as screenshots and information about Mirth.
